Prosperity and security will not last long where there is no liberty for the individual. Only when the state protects the rights of the individual will the individuals be able to protect the state from invasion from outside enemies. When the state takes the away the rights of the individual in the name of providing prosperity and protecting security, it creates a state not worth saving and incapable of prosperity. You can’t protect freedom by taking it away from the people.
